Terms of use

To use this website at all, you undertake that you're not a prick or bully and, when on trails, will ride your dirt bike lawfully and respectfully, keeping the noise down!

How to use this site

There's the big map of places to ride trails in southern Ontario. There's also the calendar with related events and the list of dirt biking clubs.

Use the map to plan your next ride. Look at the places, click on the pin and follow the link to the description. We try to include as much details as possible about each, including detailed map, routes, videos and images about the area.

Always double-check before going: we include a set of other links with details and you should double-check. Things change and we may not be fast enough to keep this site in sync. Especially on the pay-to-play facilities: they have their own schedules and permit certain activities only on a specific date/time.

For most trails, you need to be member of the OFTR. You should be a member anyways, to support our sport.

The events in the calendar are gathered from all over the place and you should do your research before leaving. Some require blue plates, some require pre-registration, some are open only to members of a certain association etc.

Maps, Routes, Videos and Images

We try to find relevant details about each trail. If the trail is marked with an icon representing a "motorcycle", then we've been there and the locations on the map and routes are correct.

Otherwise, we try to identify the correct location from different sources, usually listed below the map. Please realize that although the web contains a lot of information, some of it is tagged incorrectly and we may make mistakes when searching for it.

If the videos come from the youtube channel http://ca.youtube.com/user/ripsomedirt then they are surely of the respective tract. If there's one embedded video, we think it is of the respective trail/track.

Likewise, if the route is from http://www.everytrail.com/profile.php?user_id=29050 then it is of the respective tract(s). While possibly incomplete, definitely of the right place .

We did all the searches for you. However, the results may sometimes be misleading, so tread carefully among the search result boxes. Do not believe that if we list a video of a flying fish under the Ganaraska tract, it means the fish is an OFTR member!

We're listing only "approved" trails where dirt bikes (off-road motorcycles) are permitted, in southern Ontario. There's usually some fees and/or memberships associated with all these. The trails are generally multi-use so you will encounter people on foot, mountain bikes, ATVs, horseback riders. Be nice!

We're also listing the pay-to-play facilities with motocross tracks and/or trails.

If we're missing any interesting entries, please drop an email.

You should double check before heading out - things do change! That's why we include several links to other sites describing the same trail/track.

Good off-road gear is really important, trust me! Here's what you should have, in order of importance:

  • Off-Road DOT helmet - there is some concern about the apropriateness of SNELL helmets, since asphalt is rare in the forest...
  • Off-Road or Motocross boots - preferably with a good seal at the top to keep water and dirt out.
  • Chest protector or body armor of some sort
  • MX gloves - must have some really nice colors
  • handguards / bark busters

Have fun!
